Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an effective treatment for trauma. EMDR affects how the brain processes troubling memories. When a person experiences a distressful experience, the sympathetic nervous system can override the brain’s natural ability to heal leading individuals to feel ‘stuck’, anxious, and/or depressed. During the EMDR, the brain re-processes the distressful experience in a way that leads individuals to remember the memory or event with less disturbance; ultimately desensitizing individuals to what was once a troubling memory and leading to symptom relief.

EMDR has been shown to help with a variety of challenges including but not limited to: anxiety, chronic illness, chronic pain, trauma, grief and loss, depression, and more.

I am certified in EMDR and am an EMDRIA approved consultant.
